Who should read this:

Greentechs, fintech, banks, regulators and anyone interested in how open banking and open finance infrastructure can be used to create sustainability benefits.

What it’s about:

Our latest - and first! - Open Sustainability Trends report, which describes how Europe and the UK use open banking and open finance APIs to enable the growth of new sustainability-focused financial digital products and services.

Why it’s important:

It helps banks understand partnerships and product opportunities with fintech, can inform consumers of the type of products to expect on the market and allow regulators to monitor sustainable finance products available. It also highlights key concerns around carbon offsetting and missing impact opportunities.

At Platformable, we have released our first Open Sustainability Trends report. The report, “Using Open Banking and Open Finance APIs to Build Green Fintech”, describes how Europe and the UK use open banking and open finance APIs to enable the growth of new sustainability-focused financial digital products and services. It focuses on key drivers including the current regulatory environment, opportunities for partnership action, the level of consumer demand and the availability of specific API products from open banking platforms.

In this edition, we looked at fintech using bank and finance API platforms to build products and services that could create sustainability benefits. Already, 93 businesses are making use of APIs to create impact-driven products and services that help address major environmental issues such as climate change and biodiversity loss. We profile 8 examples from banks and green fintech in the report.
